Apellidarse = to be called by a last name or your last name

In Spanish in order to tell someone your first and last name there are two separate verbs to use. The verb for telling your last name is apellidarse. Por ejemplo, my last name is Dew, thus, if I wanted to tell someone that my last name is Dew in Spanish, I would say,"Me apellido Dew." In order to say last name you would say apellido.
